The Isidore Tarot as Compared to Rider Waite Smith

With the Isidore Tarot I decided to base the collage illustrations on the popular Rider Waite Smith deck and keep that symbolism as best I could. Though I tried to keep the artwork similar, I did take a bit of creative license to give it a bit of my own personality, a touch of neo Victorian sensibilities, and whimsy. For all the darker themed artwork I create, with this deck it was important to me to keep the same type of surreal whimsical style that comes through in J.J. Grandville’s work, which was the basis of my collage work. Below are samples of my deck as it compares to the RWS deck.
